The girls T&F team won the small school division at the Ellington Knight's Invitational on April 30th! On Friday April 29th in Manchester, the relay team of Dara Salka, Rachel St. Germain, Stephanie Burzynski
and Avery D'Amour raced to a win over Glastonbury to win a
NATIONAL qualifying time to have the opportunity to compete in the NIke
National Championship in Eugene, Oregon.

Congratulations to Rachel St. Germain for winning the CIAC Class S Indoor State Championships in the 1600 m and the 3200m events! Somers finished in 6th place in the Class S Indoor Championships! Rachel also won both events at the Open Championships, qualifying her for both the New England Championships being held in Boston and the National Championships being held in New York!

finish resulted in the program's best state tournament run since 2008!
Rachel St. Germain accepts her award as Connecticut's Girls Cross Country 2021 Runner of the Year at the CHSCA Cross Country all-state banquet at the Aqua Turf. Stephanie Burzynski, Gracie Flynn, Rachel St. Germain and Benjamin Campion also receive their all state certificates at the banquet.
Rachel St. Germain and Stephanie Burzynski both qualified for the New England Girls Cross Country Championships held at Thetford Academy in Vermont. Both athletes celebrate Rachel's 2nd place finish with Coach Mike Szafir, and Rachel earned one of the prestigious All New England sports.

The Somers HS boy's varsity soccer team seniors celebrate senior night with their coaching staff.

Somers Cross Country took part in the Wickham Park Invitational on October 10th, where the girls team competed in the L and LL division
and finished as a top 5 team in the state of Connecticut. Rachel St.
Germain ran one of the fastest times in course history and is now the
top female runner in the state of Connecticut. Rachel ran the fastest time
on the day by almost a minute against competition from schools from all throughout New
England. Freshman Stephanie Burzynski placed
in the top 25 and Gracie Flynn was in
the top 50 while Dara Salka, Sarah St. Germain and April Kelly helped the overall
team score. The boy's team had
strong performances in the JV race from Cowen Joyal and Tait Gaudet, while the varsity boys placed
5th in the small school division. Ben Campion and Alex Devau were in the
top 25 and Freshman Jake Brenton finished in the top 50.

2021 SENIOR DAY

The 2021 Cross Country teams celebrate senior day: Rachel St. Germain, Justin Donohue, aand Cooper Barrett.

Somers Cross Country took part in Winding Trails Invitational Saturday in Farmington, CT. The
girls team won their second invitational of the year by winning over NCCC
rivals Ellington and Suffield. Rachel St. Germain set another course
record and won the race by over a minute. Freshman Stephanie Burzynski
finished 3rd for the Spartan girls. Gracie Flynn was 5th and April Kelly
finished in the top 20. Ella Campion had a strong finish for the team. The
boys placed 6th and were led by Ben Campion finishing 7th and 19th by
Alex Deveau. Bryce Huestis had a big Personal Record on the day and
Freshman Cody Marks medaled in the JV race.
The Somers Cross Country teams opened up their season at Stratton Brook Park in Simsbury, CT this past Saturday.
The girls won the invitational with an impressive win over Tolland and Bolton. Rachel
St. Germain was the fastest time on the day completing tne 5k in 19:08.
Freshman Stephanie Burzynski placed second for the team and strong
finishes from Gracie Flynn, April Kelly, and Dara Salka solidified the
win. The boys team finished fifth with a strong 4th place finish by Ben Campion and great races by (4) new freshman.
